On Saturday, August 8, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Pine Creek Lake. The lake level was about 1.3 feet below normal with water temperatures reaching the low nineties. Anglers started the day with mild temperatures and calm winds but warmed up to the low to mid-nineties with a steady breeze for most of the day.
Seventeen anglers entered in the contest. Sixteen anglers were able to catch their five
fish limit. Tony Derby won the
tournament with a stringer weight of 13.38 pounds. Forrest Cave finished in second place with a
stringer weight of 13.31 pounds. Ellis
Silvey came in third. His stringer weighed 13.03 pounds. Ellis also caught a bass that weighed 3.56
pounds to win the big bass of the tournament.
The club’s next bass tournament will
be held on Sardis Lake at Sardis Cove Landing.
Fishing times will be voted on at the club’s monthly meeting that will
be held on Thursday, August 13.
