December Meeting

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their monthly meeting on Thursday, December 11.  The 2026 bass tournament schedule was discussed and approved.  All dates are TENTATIVE pending permit approval from lake authorities.  The Annual Awards Banquet has been scheduled for Saturday, March 7 and will be held at the Wildlife Heritage Center.

In other news, all current officers were nominated for re-election in 2026 with no opposition for any of the positions.  Board members were also nominated.  Those nominated for board of directors positions were, Forrest Cave, Lee Smith, Aubrey Davidson, Randy Janoe, Eric Baskin and Don Deems.  Elections will be held at the January meeting.

The US Army Corps of Engineers is now charging bass clubs $250.00 for a bass tournament permit that is held on any lake operated by them. For several years, permits have been required so boat ramps do not become overcrowded due to several bass clubs using the same ramp.  Past charges were only $75.00 for tournaments with over fifteen boats and permits were free to tournaments with fifteen boats or less. This is a significant increase.  The help offset the cost, club members voted to charge a permit fee of $10.00, in addition to the entry fee, for each adult contestant, sixteen years old or older.  This will apply to tournaments on Hugo Lake, Sardis Lake and Pine Creek Lake.  There will be no charge for tournaments on McGee Creek Lake since it is not operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Members that entered the club’s deer season contest are reminded to bring their deer antlers to the January meeting so they may be scored to determine winners.
