Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club started their bass tournament on Sardis Lake with a stiff breeze and mild temperatures. The tournament was held on Saturday, June 8. The wind continued to blow for the entire tournament and the temperature warmed into the low nineties. The lake was about 1.5 feet above normal.. Seventeen members were competing in the bass tournament. The bite was slow; however, some were able to put together a decent stringer. Only six members were able to catch and weigh a limit of five bass. Five members were unable to catch a single bass.
Billy Latham won the tournament with five bass that weighed
11.54 pounds. Coming in a close second
was Chuck Beck with a stringer weight of 11.50 pounds. Judd Thomas finished in third place, also
with five fish that weighed 9.67 pounds.
Chuck Beck caught the big bass of the tournament. It weighed 5.35 pounds.
The club’s next event will be a bass tournament on Pine
Creek Lake. It will be held on Saturday,
June 22. Fishing times will be voted on
at the club’s monthly meeting on Thursday, June 13. Launch
site will be at Lost Rapids Park. Members
are reminded that the club will be frying fish for the Antlers Homecoming on
Saturday, June 15. Any member that can
bring their cooker to help cook will be appreciated. If you don’t have a cooker, you can still
show up and help.
