Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Saturday, August 12, at Sardis Lake. Only eleven members participated in the tournament. All eleven anglers were able to catch a tournament limit of five bass. Afternoon temperatures reached over 100 degrees, which may have been part of the reason for the low turnout. The lake level was about 4 inches below normal.
Billy Hensley caught a limit of bass that weighed 13.42 pounds to win the tournament. Randy Janoe, also with a limit, had a stringer weight of 10.66 pounds to place second. Earl Jones finished in third place with a stringer weight of 10.14 pounds. Billy Hensley caught a bass that weighed 5.18 pounds to win the big bass of the tournament.
The club’s next bass tournament will be held on August 26, at Pine Creek Lake. Fishing times will from “safe light” to 3:30 p.m. Launch site for the tournament will be the Lost Rapids boat ramp.
