Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their monthly meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2023. The first item on the agenda was to elect officers and board members for the current year. All current officers were re-elected as they run un-opposed. They are Billy Latham, president; Judd Thomas, vice-president; Ellis Silvey, treasurer; Billy Hensley, secretary. Andy Cripe, Randy Janoe, Kane Miller, Joe Janoe, Colby Chandler and Forrest Cave were elected to serve as board members for the current year.
The 2023 bass
tournament schedule was finalized as all permits for tournament dates were
approved. Members received copies of
the tournament schedule. The first bass
tournament will be on March 11, at McGee Creek Lake. The date for the club’s Annual Awards Banquet
has been set for Saturday, March 4. More information will follow as the date
draws closer.
Those members who
entered the fall deer season contest brought their antlers to be measured so
winners could be determined for each season.
For the 2022 archery season, Judd Thomas took first place honors. Colby Chandler finished in second place. Billy Hensley placed first in the primitive
firearms season with second place going to Billy Latham. The rifle season contest was a very close
call with about an inch difference in the antler measurements. Billy Hensley won first place with Royce
Chandler coming in a close second.
The club’s next
meeting will be held on February 9. The
club has open memberships until the Big Bass Rodeo on April 22-23. Memberships are $20.00 per year. They can be paid at a meeting or at the ramp before
a bass tournament begins up until the Big Bass Rodeo.
