On Saturday, August 11, 2018, members of the Pushmataha
County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Pine Creek Lake. The lake level was about one foot above
normal (which is actually about eight feet lower than what the old normal level
was) with water temperatures reaching the low nineties. Anglers enjoyed mild temperatures for August
and partly cloudy skies.
Ten of the sixteen anglers entered in the contest managed
to catch their limit of six bass over fourteen inches in length. Every angler was able to catch at least two
or more keeper bass. Kindel Holiman won
the tournament with a stringer that weighed 21.53 pounds. Kindel also caught the biggest bass of the
tournament. It weighed 4.39 pounds. Eugene Hensley finished in second place with
a stringer weight of 14.46 pounds. Colton
Fleming came in third with a stringer weight of 14.35 pounds.
The club’s next bass tournament will be held at Sardis
Lake on Saturday, August 25. Fishing
will begin at “safe light” and end at 4:00 p.m.
Launch site for the tournament will be the Sardis Cove boat ramp.
