Cloudy skies and a stiff breeze greeted members of the
Pushmataha County Sportsman Club as daylight broke over Sardis Lake on June
24. Members were competing in a bass
tournament and were fishing after a cold front had passed through. This typically slows down the bass bite but a
few members were able to put together some nice stringers. Five anglers were able to catch their limit
of six bass over 14 inches in length.
Forrest Cave won the tournament with a six fish limit
that weighed 17.89 pounds. Mike Burrage
finished in second place with a six fish limit that weighed 17.08 pounds. Judd Thomas came in third place with his
limit that weighed 14.20 pounds. Kaleb
Hensley caught a bass that weighed 4.63 pounds to win the big bass of the
tournament.
The club’s next event will be a bass tournament on Hugo
Lake. It will be held on Saturday, July
8 and will launch from the Frazier Point boat ramp. Fishing times will be from “safe light” until
3:00 p.m.
