Husband-Wife Bass Tournament Results

On Saturday, June 6, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their annual husband & wife bass tournament and fish fry.  The event took place at McGee Creek Lake.  The lake was approximately eighteen feet above normal level and slowly falling.  The weather was warm and humid making for a very warm day.  These conditions made catching quality bass difficult.
The team of Billy and Martha Hensley took first place honors for the heaviest stringer weighed in.  Ellis and Gail Silvey finished in second place.  Third place stringer was won by Don and Sherrie Deems.  The biggest bass of the tournament was caught by Chelsi Thomas.  After all fish had been weighed, anglers were treated to a fish fry with all the trimmings.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the fellowship.

The club’s next bass tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, on Pine Creek Lake.  This may have to be canceled or rescheduled due the high water at the lake.  At the time of this writing, all boat ramps and camp areas are closed due to the high water.  This will be discussed at the club’s meeting on Thursday, June 11.  The club meets at the Wildlife Heritage Center and Museum at 7.30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. Any changes to the club’s schedule will be posted on the club’s website by Friday morning.
