On Saturday, March 28, members of the Pushmataha County
Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Hugo Lake. Seventeen members competed in the event. Fishing
conditions were, to say the least, poor.
Anglers were faced with a lake level that was above normal and muddy
water. Only six anglers were able to
catch a keeper size bass. However, a few anglers were able to make some
nice catches.
Ellis Silvey was the first place winner. Ellis had a stringer weight of 10.75 pounds. Finishing in second place was Judd Thomas
with a stringer weight of 10.25 pounds. Billy
Hensley came in third with a stringer weight of 5.39 pounds. Billy also had the big bass of the tournament
with his bass of 5.39 pounds.
The club’s next bass tournament will be the 44th
Annual Big Bass Rodeo that is held on Pine Creek Lake. It will take place on April 18-19. Club members will be making final plans for
this year’s Big Bass Rodeo at their monthly meeting that will be held on
Thursday, April 9. Meetings are held at
the Wildlife Heritage Center and Museum and begin at 7:30 p.m.
