Pine Creek Lake Bass Tournament

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club competed in a bass tournament at Pine Creek Lake on Saturday, June 11.  Both the weather and the fish cooperated for a change.  The day started off with cloudy and cool with light rain in some areas of the lake but skies cleared quickly and warmed to the low nineties by weigh-in.  The lake was 4.5 feet above normal and slowly rising. Catching keeper bass was not too difficult as eighteen of the twenty-four anglers that were entered caught their club limit of five bass.

Johnny Ivey won the event with a five fish limit that weighed 18.10 pounds.  Craig Bartlett took second place with a five fish limit weighing 17.36 pounds.  Forrest Cave finished in third place, also with a five fish limit that weighed 15.65 pounds.  Forrest also caught the big bass of the tournament.  It weighed 4.64 pounds.

The club’s next activity will be the annual fish fry held during the Antlers Homecoming celebration.  Any member that is able to help out is urged to attend.  Members will start gathering at First Bank Park sometime around 3:30 or so on Saturday, June 18, to start getting cookers ready to fry fish.

The club’s next bass tournament will be held on Saturday, June 25, at Sardis Lake.  Fishing times will be from “safe light” until 3:00 p.m.  Launch site for the tournament will be the Sardis Cove boat ramp.
