The Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Saturday, June 6, at Hugo Lake. The lake level was about three feet above normal and falling. The day started out hot and muggy and simply got hotter with temps reaching near one hundred by the end of the tournament. For most of the anglers, catching a keeper bass over fourteen inches in length proved to be difficult. Only three anglers were able to catch a limit of keeper bass.
Clay Armstrong won the tournament with a stringer weight
of 14.72 pounds. Clay also caught the biggest
bass of the tournament. It weighed 3.71
pounds. Judd Thomas finished in second
place with a stringer weight of 13.56 pounds.
The third place stringer was caught by Donald Wall. His stringer weighed 12.49 pounds.
The club’s next tournament will be on June 13, at Pine
Creek Lake. Launch site will be the Lost
Rapids boat ramp. Fishing times will be voted on at the club’s monthly meeting
that will be held on Thursday, June 11. Meetings
begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held at the Wildlife Heritage Museum. For updates, check our Facebook page or our
